A new development in packaging may solve a rising quandary in pollution. First breaking on CNN's social media, scientists in Japan have confirmed a bacterium that eats plastic. According to reports, this strain of bacteria fully breaks down polyethylene terephthalate (PET) most commonly used in consumer packaging.
